Networking at the Convention? WiFi? Ethernet?
Eric Rice, via email: "So, my question, is about connectivity. Is there WiFi or Ethernet at the least? Or do people need to pick up the phone. Far too often people expect some sort of connectivity and then hit with zilch. Sucks."
Which bloggers got credentials?Today a bunch of bloggers got notice that they'll have credentials for the Democratic National Convention, July 26-29 in Boston. Of course, the first thing I want to know is who else will be there. Has the DNC published a list? If you're going to be covering the convention as a blogger, please post a note in the comments here. So far I know about Taegan Goddard at Political Wire, and Jay Rosen from NYU (and myself, Dave Winer, from Scripting News). Then of course, what next? Jay asks what the story is. There will be 15,000 reporters there from various other media. They probably don't have much news to cover. What will the bloggers cover? What's the story? I know I'm excited to go, it's my first national political convention. I'm bringing a digital camera and curiosity. I guess I'm most interested in how the selection process will work in the future. I think of 2004 as a dry run for future elections. What about local races that are using the Internet to build communities and manage their campaigns? I'm definitely looking for stories there. I guess to me it's an opportunity to network with other people who share my interests. Maybe that's simply the purpose of a national convention. Share your thoughts, and if you're not going, what would you like to see happen at the convention with blogs?
